Download and Install the Filezilla FTP program, or an equivalent.

There are many FTP programs ( often called an FTP client ). You need it on your own machine in order to upload and download files from your website to your personal computer.

We have chosen Filezilla to use and to teach. It is a free PC program. If you are on a Mac, you will need to find your own FTP program.

First go to Filezilla and choose a file to download. Always choose the latest version ( largest version number ) BUT do not get a Beta version. They are still in development. Get a stable version. Today, January, 2007, the latest version is Filezilla 2.2.30a

On a Mac you are responsible for finding your own FTP program and installing it so you can use it.

Download the Filezilla exe file to your personal computer. Save it somewhere so you can find it later. I'm assuming you know how to use Windows Explorer (on a PC) to find a particular file.

Run the installation file and you should then have a working version of Filezilla.

We will use Filezilla to log into our website once the site exists.
