The quickest way to install either Wordpress or Joomla.

To install either Wordpress or Joomla on you own site in about 5 minutes, use Fantastico, a utility script available on HostRocket . The script will install either package for you with very little required of you.

On HostRocket, you will find Fantastico in the control panel of the site. For example, if your site is www,yoursite.com then the control panel is opened by loging into www,yoursite.com/controlpanel/ .

You see this:

Click on this to get a full size image.

Under "Scripts and Programs" click on the icon "Add-on software".

Fantastico offers to install many software packages.

You can see that Wordpress and Joomla are in the list.

Click on Joomla and you get this:

Click on "Wordpress:" and you get this:

In both windows, you see a "New Installation" link. Click this and the install will start.

The first page is where you load in basic information. You don't have to create a directory first. but be careful depending on whether this is the top domain or a lower domain.

I recommend that you install joomla first using the top domain name and either a

blank directory (for a top level install ) or a named directory ( for a lower domain install ). Then once this install is finished, you will need to use the "Add domain" icon in the control panel to direct a new domain name to this new directory which we are in the process of creating and installing.

In other words, finish this install into a directory and then worry about setting up the domain name in the control panel so that web browsers can find the directory.

Let's go on to the next page. Hit the "Install joomla" button.

That should do it. When it finishes, it will have created a new Database, added a user to the database and installed Joomla ( or Wordpress ) into the directory. Be very careful to copy the administrator name and password where you can use it later. The first thing you should do is test it by logging into the administrator section of the web site. You can go there by web browser to

http://www.topsitename.com/newdirectory/administrator/

or if the domain name is already set up,

http://www.yourNewDomain.com/administrator/

Of course change the .com to whatever is appropriate.

Now you need to use the control panel to tell HostRocket that your domain name should be assigned to this new directory. Use the "Add Domain" button in the control panel. As long as the name of the new directory is the same as the new domain name, they should be linked. Within an hour or so, any Web Browser should be able to go to your new site.
